Individual Therapy

How can I help?

I am a firm believer that things will get better with the right help and finding out what that help should be is the purpose of a consultation. In my work I see lots of different clients, some coming with specific issues such as anxiety or depression that they’d like help lifting. Some people are coming process their past or understand why they’ve come to experience the issues they have. I work with a variety of different issues such as: anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, drug and alcohol problems, low self-esteem and worth, trauma and relationship issues. You may have feelings of stuckness, overwhelm, isolation or loneliness, lack of motivation, work dissatisfaction, lack of meaning in life, sexuality and identity issues, and physical health problems. I hope that following a consultation I can bring you some hope that things can change.

My individual work is varied and flexible depending on what you need. I offer both short and longer-term services, the focus of which can be on specific issues or more exploratory in nature. Therapy is a journey where the road can seem a little uncertain and maybe a bit daunting. It’s my job to help guide you and what is certain, is that taking time for yourself in a safe and experienced space will bring about changes in the way you understand, think, feel and behave in your life and with others.

What to expect

My individual sessions run for 50-55 minutes and are conducted over Zoom during weekday afternoon/evenings. Research has shown that connection is the key to effective therapy and it’s important to have the right fit between client and therapist. In an initial consultation, we would discuss what has led you to seek help and explore whether I’m the right fit for you. I’ll ask you some questions about how things are for you at the moment and other questions about your background and upbringing.

Should you wish to continue, the first few sessions will focus on helping me to get more of an understanding of who you are and what you’re looking to think about in therapy. From there, once we have an idea of how sessions would be most helpful to you, we would move on to the more ‘intervention’ focused aspect of sessions. I’ll bring my expertise in terms of suggesting what I think would be most helpful but I am client-led in my focus and look to make decisions with you about what kind of sessions you would like.

I draw on the following therapies in my individual work:
