About Dr Hannah Jenkins

I’m a UK Registered Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience working in the healthcare sector and in private practice. Here’s a little more about me and how I work.

Dr Hannah Jenkins

Hi, I’m Hannah

HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist
she/her

I started off my life in psychology as an undergraduate at Cardiff University, then trained to become a Clinical Psychologist at University College London. After six years working in the NHS, voluntary and charity sectors I set up my online private practice in 2019.

I started with the aim of reaching people who might not get psychological help from mainstream healthcare services as quickly as they would like, but who still need and deserve high quality, evidence-based care. Seven years on, I’m still as committed as ever.

My approach

Highly trained, and genuinely invested in your progress

Putting it simply, I really love my job. There is no greater privilege than being allowed into my clients’ lives to assist them in their journeys towards better health and relationships. My doctorate and further post-graduate training has allowed me to learn lots of different kinds of therapeutic models and I generally use a blend of these with clients. I’m grateful to have a broad toolkit so that I can meet clients where they’re at rather than fitting them into one way of working.

My individual work can be structured — using techniques and strategies — or more exploratory in nature, using psychodynamic and attachment-based methods. My couples work uses Emotionally Focused Therapy, and I also bring in my broader clinical skills where they’re helpful.

I’ve been providing therapy online since 2019, pre-pandemic. When I started out, I wasn’t sure online therapy would be as effective as in-person therapy. Little did I know that not only is online working equally effective as in-person therapy but for some people, it’s the best way of receiving therapy — particularly couples trying to coordinate schedules, busy people who would struggle to get to in-person sessions, and those who feel more comfortable in their own space.

I acknowledge my privilege as a white, cisgender woman and welcome working with people from communities who have faced and continue to face adversities and discrimination that I have not had to encounter. I welcome clients from all walks of life, including those from the LGBTQIA+ community and BIPOC communities.
